War Child Holland (WCH) is an international non-governmental organization that works exclusively to improve the well-being and resilience of children and youth affected by violence and armed conflict. WCH and its partners support children affected by the conflict in Syria through an integrated mix of child protection, education and psychosocial support interventions, while working closely with their caregivers, families and wider communities for maximum and durable impact.

We are seeking to strengthen our team and we are currently seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Child Protection (CP) and Safeguarding (SG) Coordinator to join our dynamic team of professionals dedicated to helping children and their families positively deal with the consequences of being exposed to armed conflict.

Your Challenge

As the Child Protection and Safeguarding Coordinator you are responsible for supporting the delivery of child protection programmes in line with quality standards, you will play a key role in building the technical capacity of partners and ensuring effective delivery of CP activities through partners in Northern Syria.

You develop and follow-up of child protection activities, assist in assessing & designing child protection & child safeguarding competencies, develop capacity building plans for staff & partners, and help represent WCH externally in relevant platforms/networks focused on child protection themes.

You also assist the CP Advisor in training and coaching partner staff on minimum standards of integrity, Child Safeguarding, PSEA, & accountability. Furthermore, you assist in reviewing and strengthening Child Safeguarding systems planning and delivering training programs.

Key Responsibilities

· Work closely with partner child protection staff, including case workers and social workers, to identify child protection issues, and provide timely solutions appropriate to the context and global standards.

· Assist in designing and developing child protection projects and activities.

· Follow-up with partner focal points on project activities, to maintain the quality of implementation, identify opportunities and constraints.

· Support implementation of WCH Child Safety and Safeguarding policies, both internally and externally with partners.

· Deliver child protection coaching and monitoring sessions, trainings and briefings.

· Support in the development and implementation of; child safeguarding procedures, case management reporting, and other tools.

· Deliver child safety and safeguarding briefings.

· Participate internal child protection meetings with regional and global colleagues and advise on CP mainstreaming as an internal resource.

· Contribute to the development/revision of child protection materials.

Knowledge and Experience

· Relevant academic background (Social Sciences / International Development Studies).

· Knowledge of current principles and practices of Child Safeguarding and Child Protection.

· Understanding of child rights (programming) in conflict and post-conflict environments.

· Demonstrated experience with child protection case management.

· Minimum 3 years (I)NGO work in developing countries / conflict areas, preferably with children.

· Minimum 3 years in the field of CP and programme implementation.

· Demonstrated engagement with local partners, and experience in building capacity in Child Protection.

· Excellent verbal communication and report writing skills in English and Arabic language.

Location & Travel

This position will be located in Amman, Jordan with some possibility of travel in the region and to Cyprus.


Local contract with a duration of at least 1 year with the intention of prolonging.
