UPDATE: Global Training of Facilitators on Engaging Community Volunteers in Case Management Postponed

Due to ongoing insecurity in the region, the Alliance has postponed the Training of Facilitators that was to be held from 4-8 in Beirut, Lebanon. The new training dates and location will be shared as soon as possible, with hopes to hold the training before the end of March 2024.

The Alliance thanks all of those who applied to attend the training in Beirut. These applications are on file and will be considered for the training once it is rescheduled.

In the meantime, you can find the Community Volunteer toolkit in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish: https://alliancecpha.org/en/community_volunteers

Do you ever wonder if there is a better way of working with community volunteers in your child protection
programs?

Do the expectations placed on community volunteers within your case management programming concern you?

Are you motivated to find new ways of working alongside community volunteers, rather than from a top-down
approach?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, we would like to invite you to this learning opportunity!

Background:

The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action is offering a training opportunity on the recently launched inter-agency Community Volunteer Toolkit and Training Manual. With funding from USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, this program will develop a cohort of facilitators equipped to use the Community Volunteer toolkit and training manual. Our hope is that through the training, you will be equipped to promote the ethical engagement of volunteers supporting case management in your organization and humanitarian response.

Participants should have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in child protection case management in humanitarian contexts
  • Familiarity with community-level approaches to child protection
  • Experience in contextualizing learning materials
  • Capacity strengthening skills, with a knowledge of participatory, creative learning activities a plus
  • Ability to disseminate the training and toolkit within 5 months of participating in the TOT
  • Strong understanding of English is a plus
  • Must be vaccinated against COVID with EU approved vaccine

Expectations:

A significant commitment is required to receive a certificate. There will be three phases, beginning in November 2023 including:

Phase 1 - Pre-course Work:

  • Introduction to the evidence base, toolkit and training manual
  • Assessment of volunteers' roles, challenges, learning needs in my context

Phase 2 - Participate:

  • Participate in Training on the Toolkit and Training Manual
  • Review of facilitation skills
  • Plan for the contextulalisation of the toolkit/training

Phase 3 - Lead Dissemination Activities:

  • Implementation of action plan (including contexualisation and workshops)
  • Mentoring support

To receive a certificate for full completion of the training, you will be expected to:

  • Complete the pre-training course work in the month timeframe provided prior to the training
  • Fully attend the five days of the face-to-face training
  • Participate fully in post-training technical support and feedback, including virtual calls to support the roll-out of training and coaching
