Thank you to everyone who submitted an abstract for and expressed their interest to attend the 2024 Annual Meeting for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action in Panama City. Regrettably, due to the overwhelming response and limited availability, we are unable to accommodate registration for all applicants. The selection process was exceedingly competitive, and while we wish we could accommodate everyone, it's unfortunately not feasible. If you have not yet received communication from the Alliance, unfortunately, this likely means your application was not accepted.

This Background Paper has been published to enhance and inform the upcoming discussions during the 2024 Annual Meeting. In response to insights from 300+ members and key stakeholders, this year's theme focuses on protecting children in escalating conflict and crises. This encompasses crises prompted by conflict or armed violence, climate shocks and natural hazards, and in many cases a combination. The impacts of escalating crises are most heavily felt by children, further complicating the child protection risks they face, whether in their communities or along migration routes.
