Each year, the Global Protection Cluster (GPC), including its Areas of Responsibility and its Strategic Advisory Group, organizes a Global Protection Forum with partners and field coordinators to review emerging challenges, learnings, and opportunities in relation to the protection of communities affected by conflict and disaster.

The Forum, taking place this year from 23rd October to 2nd November, will include an opening ceremony, six core sessions and two interactive spaces. Simultaneous interpretation (French, Spanish, Arabic) will be available, and all sessions will enable interactive online participation.

In particular, we wanted to draw your attention to:

Session 5: Acting Before the Hour of Need: Prevention of Harm to Children in Humanitarian Settings | 31st October from 10:00-11:30 CET/Geneva

Join us in this joint session led by the Alliance, the Global CP AoR and Street Child. This session will shed light on the importance of primary prevention as a critical element of humanitarian action. We will discuss where the sector is in the implementation of primary prevention work. This includes challenges met by child protection actors and key steps taken in understanding the root causes of harm and the development of comprehensive approaches to address them.

Opening ceremony: Why Prevention and Proactive Protection Matter: The Role of Protection Actors Before and During the 'Hour of Need' | 23rd October from 14:00-15:00 CEST/Geneva

Join us at the opening ceremony, where the Alliance and the CP AoR have engaged BHA as speakers during this session to shed light on the increasing body of work on prevention approaches in the Child Protection in Humanitarian Action Sector.
