InterAction is pleased to invite you to a virtual roundtable discussion on Thursday, September 28th from 3:00-4:30 PM CET on the Global Child Thrive Act and Early Childhood Development (ECD) in humanitarian settings.

This roundtable will focus on the implications of the Global Child Thrive Act for humanitarian actors on a global scale. The panel discussion and breakout sessions will identify challenges and successes to supporting consistent and comprehensive inclusion and integration of ECD and child protection across humanitarian settings. This event will center on dialogue between humanitarian and development practitioners, child protection and ECD experts, local actors, and US Government focal points to inform advocacy and recommendations that advance and encourage the integration of ECD in humanitarian emergencies.

The roundtable will consist of a panel discussion with the following practitioners and experts:

  • Camilla Jones, Coordinator, Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action
  • Marianne Stone, Ahlan Simsim Director, IRC
  • Elizabeth Drevlow, Humanitarian Protection Advisor at USAID- Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance
  • Monika Wozniak, Fundacja Rozwoju Dzieci, Poland

The panel will be followed by breakout sessions to delve into key topics and brainstorm tangible solutions to barriers. *We ask that you please rank your top two breakout session topics in the RSVP form.

  • Integration of ECD: Successes and barriers to integrating ECD across sectors (health, nutrition, WASH, MHPSS, education)
  • ECD & Partnerships: What can humanitarian, development, and local actors learn from each other on implementing ECD?
  • Collective Advocacy: What would it take to prioritize ECD in terms of policy recommendations, resources, and coordination?
  • Inclusive ECD: How can ECD programs be more inclusive of vulnerable children and youth, such as children with disabilities and other minorities?
