Orphanages harm children. Over 100 years of evidence shows that the majority of those who experience life inside an institution suffer violence, abuse and neglect. Denied the chance to grow up in a family, they’re more likely to become homeless later in life, to have run-ins with the law, and to experience mental and physical health issues. And yet for many children this is still their reality.

Our Global Advocacy is central to our mission, creating the conditions for change across all countries and regions in which we operate, securing high-level political will, disseminating evidence and know-how, strengthening civil society and mobilising resources for child-protection reform.
As Director of Global Advocacy, you will spearhead the development and delivery of our advocacy strategy, to deliver real impact. You will lead to a diverse team covering a portfolio of activities that are influencing the European Union, United Nations, Commonwealth, African Union and the United Kingdom, among others. You will also be a vital member of the 5-person Senior Management Team, with the organisation-wide responsibilities that entails.
You will be versatile and dynamic, with a true passion for children’s rights. You will be a senior leader with extensive knowledge and experience in international advocacy and campaigning at the highest levels. A proven track record of influencing multilateral organisations, governments, human rights bodies and other NGOs is required, and you will be a results-driven individual who can demonstrate previous evidence of catalysing change.

Hours: Full-time
Location: Flexible across locations within approximately a 2-3 hour time difference of GMT, with a preference for one of our existing country locations (e.g. UK, Belgium, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya)
Salary and benefits: The package below is based on the role being located in the UK. If the successful candidate is based elsewhere, the reward package will be adjusted to reflect relevant local market and terms and conditions.
The salary for this post is: £85,000 to £92,000 per annum, plus London weighting (currently £4,000) where applicable, plus competitive benefits.
