Kenya: Technical Manager MHPSS and Child Protection

REPSSI is a regional non-profit that has been delivering high quality mental health and psychosocial support services in the East and Southern Africa region for over 20 years. In partnership with Save the Children, REPSSI will provide MHPSS Policy advocacy & Policy influencing, technical assistance to civil society organisations, national authorities and regional bodies over the next 4 years. We are looking for a competent individual for the position of Technical Advisor MHPSS. The person will be based in Uganda or South Africa, and will provide technical assistance to partners in Ethiopia, Malawi, Somalia, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia .

The Technical Manager, will lead our growth strategy in Kenya, in the child protection and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) sectors. The ideal candidate should be broadly familiar with key actors in these sectors in Kenya, and possess demonstrable experience and technical skill to proactively, engage such actors including national authorities. We are looking to grow our partnership portfolio as well as capability to deliver technical assistance in Kenya, and as far as Somalia and South Sudan. We look at Kenya as strategically located in the region, to deliver our regional objectives, and grow our influence and presence in Kenya. For over 20 years, our approach has been to support national authorities and NGOs to integrate MHPSS into their programmes.

The successful candidate must be astute and a strategic leader, capable of acquiring high impact partnerships and grants; familiar with writing proposals to major sector donors such as USAID, UNICEF, SIDA, EU, and foundations such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, etc.

Person Specifications: 

You must have more than 8 years’ experience at senior program management level, in possession of a Degree in Social Work/development studies or a related field. You must also possess post graduate qualifications, preferably at Masters level.

This is a local hire and the successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Programmes and updating the Kenya Advisory Board during quarterly meetings.

This is a 3-year contract position subject to availability of donor funding and good performance. Remuneration will be commensurate with skills and experience. REPSSI is committed to the principles of employment equity.
